Hi … no big news, but we have a bunch of little updates:
I’ve been asked to come back to Minnesota for a few days of meetings at work at the end of this month. I’ll be arriving Saturday, September 27, and leaving Friday, October 3. I’ll be working during the weekdays and at an Adobe event on Tuesday evening (September 30). Those times aside, I’d love to see as many of you as I can while I’m in town.
I know many of you would love to see Tara and Ayla, but she (Tara) has decided that travel is a bit more adventure than she’s ready to take on just now. Maybe a bit later in the fall… (You could take that as an opportunity to call Tara and drop hints. 
)
Tara’s sister Cary will be coming here to visit us at roughly the same time (September 24 through October 5).
Ayla had a check-up today. We had been a little worried that she hadn’t been gaining weight fast enough. No such worry any more. Today’s weight was a healthy 8 lbs 5 oz, which is right about where she should be for three weeks old. (We were hoping for 7-11 or better. Yay!)

Ayla is so beautiful! Tara you look great too! I can remember feeling so tired and uncertain. I remember telling my Anatomy teacher (as that was considered the hardest class) that being a mom was the hardest thing I had ever done and made A&P feel like a merry-go-round! Thankfully #2 was easier or I would not be pregnant again that is for sure! Gretchen
Glad to hear the little one is bulking up! Looking forward to meeting her when the time is right and you all are semi-recuperated (if that is possible with an infant!). Stay healthy and get as much sleep as possible.

Regarding weight, it always takes a newborn a little while to get into the habit of feedings. I remember our children and more recently grandchildren losing a little weight right at the start before they got things going. After three months, I was more concerned that the baby was gaining weight too fast.

I am so glad she is gaining weight. I know that is always a concern in the beginning and is scary. I love the photo on the patio. Susan told me that Cary was coming sounds like for a week. I know she is so excited about see her niece. She has been waitng to be an Auntie. It will be wonderful to have her and spend some time with her. It has been a while since she could come. have a wonderful visit.
